Water Garden!

image image

This is the third piece of my Monet’s Garden series, & I decided to create a collage, focused on one of the pictures that we took of the Water Lilies. (Pictured below)
There was a beautiful Weeping Willow in the background, and a big Maroon Bush, along with White and Pink blooms on the Lily Pads. Lots of different colors of green, so I tried to interject that as much as I could. I also threw in FOUR special critters! Two of them are actually Vintage Wood Buttons, which was fun! One is a wooden hand painted button, showing a beautiful bird singing; another is a wood fish button swimming in the river. The other two fun additions wouldn’t have been in this picture in real life because they would have been there earlier in the season, BUT, I couldn’t resist…so I added two very colorful frogs sitting on lily pads enjoying this beautiful day in Giverny.

The water lilies were planted in a small brook, the Ru, which is a diversion of the Epte, a tributary of the Seine River. The neighbors were opposed at Monet planting these strange plants at first, because they thought the water would be poisoned. Very interesting.

This was just one scene from different pictures that we took of the water lilies in Monet’s gardens. I like the different color combinations and thought that I would share this piece. There are many different vintage buttons that I chose, and I hope that you enjoy looking at it as much as I did creating it. Thank you so much for letting me share.

**If you take a moment to look at some of the buttons, you’ll see dyed mother of pearl, some amazing art deco pieces, and more…
